This is all one take. I used my Boss RC-2 in auto mode (which I bought on Zed’s recommendation) to lay down the rhythm track with auto-drums, then soloed over it. Chords are exactly as specified, I just switched the 2nd and 3rd in each progression. My solo is just straight pentatonic slop improv with blue notes and major scales notes thrown in - cuz that’s about all I know how to do when I solo. Mostly licks I learned from southern rock songs. I start in a minor key, then go to major, then back to minor to end it. One thing I don’t like is that the drums are a little bit out of sync with my syncopated rhythm in measure six, but I think that’s the RC-2 messing up, I was on the beat :)
No post-production either - I recorded with an M-Audio FastTrack USB into a no-effects track on Garage Band on my Macbook Pro. My pedals are (in line order) a Boss Compressor Sustainer, a Line 6 Dr. Distorto, a Boss Fender ‘65 Deluxe Reverb Amp Tremolo, a Digitech Digital Delay, and the Boss RC2 Loop Station. My guitar is a Jackson/Charvel that I bought off a friend for $50 several years ago. I would have liked to record through my amp (a dying Peavey Bandit 65 I bought off some dude carrying it down the street to pawn it 15 years ago), because I can get a lot better feedback and sustain when I crank it up, but I don’t have a mic that works…
Thanks for this site, it’s a great idea, I’ve wanted to do something like this for a long time. The navigation still sucks though, I keep getting lost and it all looks the same. Give me a hierarchical menu or something - I feel like a blind dog in a room full of chairs.
