I like Lydian, but even to me, whenever I play it, it comes off as a half assed impersonation of Joe Satriani — clearly he’s an influence of mine, but Lydian in particular it always seems blatant.

Anyway, I liked how this came together, I had a couple of ‘bass’ figures I played clean on my Agile in drop D tuning and built the chords and melody in D Lydian. A little spacey, but kinda nice … if I didn’t always sound like Satch playing this stuff I’d probably keep this idea around.
