Industrial. A lost genre for me, came to popularity after I quit playing, peaked and went back underground before I started caring again. So I had to do a little research for this one, closest thing I had in my collection was Shotgun Messiah with Tim Skold who went on to KMFDM for a while (as well as Marilyn Manson and other solo stuff), so I listened to some KMFDM, Ministry and a couple others, taking from the experience:
Industrial is more about the beat
There can be lots of synth
All the vocals are heavily effected
Guitar is a flavoring, not the main course
So Here’s what I did …
Change drum kits to use some harsher sounds for bass and snare Since my guitar is subbing the vocal I put lots of chorus and delay on it
I didn’t solo much
Just kinda let it groove along
Added a saw wave synth along with the bass
Musically, it takes some thematic ques from my Death Dealer In Love submission adding a little continuity since it’s a concept thing we’re assembling. I tried to arrange it to fit the description … a transport intro, a bit of quiet sneaking, a bit of anthem, a quick duel, and ride out the anthem … that was the idea anyway!
