I spent about an hour laying the drums and the bassline, both of which I think sounded better than I expected. But when I laid the output on Audacity to actually record guitar over it, my brain drew a complete blank. I tried.

Gah. I really wish I had spent more time learning techniques from different genres when I started playing guitar. And I think to an extent, this is one of those things that Zed and I are trying to accomplish with Fretwar. Competing to different genres every week really push you to the boundaries of your musical proficiency. At the end, even if your submission didn’t sound great or didn’t make it to the top of the Winnars page, you still end up being a better guitarist.
