(didn’t realize my second submission would overwrite the first, so here’s a consolidated description)
Baa Baa Black Sheep
I don’t have time or knowledge to do anything fancy recording-wise, so this is just my cheap nylon string straight into an Edirol mp3 recorder, unedited.
I fiddled around a bit with something more elaborate, but Locrian is weird and it would have taken me about 100 takes to get it right. So, I abandoned that and spent 15 minutes reharmonizing Baa Baa Black Sheep (aka Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, aka the alphabet song) from major to Locrian, focusing on various m7b5 voicings. I’ve got two kids under three, so I’m familiar with the tune :)
Now that I think about it, doing it altered would probably be more interesting.
Five Little Friends Here’s a second, I guess more serious, submission. Once again, the focus is on voicings of the min7b5 chord with a simple melody moving inside. I briefly tried adding some reverb with Audacity, but there were too many knobs and it sounded awful so you get to hear it dry. Luckily, I don’t think there’s much slop that needs hiding.
