I’ve noticed a few submissions that could have been better if the submitter had better recording gear and techniques. I’m planning a shed post right now, but I want to hear what other people have for recording setups and how they do their records these days.
For me, I use a Samson H4 recorder to do the actual recording away from the computer. I don’t like recording ito a computer, just seems way too hard and clunky compared to a nice little high quality recorder.
I then edit everything in Reaper, but since the H4 is a 4-track recorder I can actually cut most of my takes in one shot and then just do a bit of cleanup. Not a lot of orchestration in all of my submissions. Just me and 4 tracks.
Ok, your turn, what do you use? How to you do it? Any tricks?
