Welcome

Fret War gathers guitarists from all over the interwebs to a showdown for fame and glory to prove they are the fastest, most accurate, creative or unique players out there.

The idea is simple: Once a week the Conductor submits a round with a musical challenge. It could be based on a mode, a motif, a particular piece of non-copyrighted music, or something totally weird.

At midnight on Friday, the winners are reviewed on a show everyone can download to hear who won The Fret War!

The Rules

The rules for Fret War are simple:

  1. Everyone who is going to play a round is sent a link to the round at the same time in their email.
  2. You are given sheet music, midi files, and mp3 renderings of the piece to learn the song with and practice.
  3. You can then submit your version of the song and after you submit one you can rank other player's submissions.
  4. All submissions must be CC licensed for maximum reusability.
  5. You can submit as many times as you want, based on feedback, until the deadline for the round.
  6. After the final submissions, the best ranked submissions are collected and analyzed by your host, The Conductor, Zed A. Shaw or a guest.
  7. The Conductor then produces a show awarding the winners for that round fame and recognition based on their interpretation, accuracy, speed, and uniqueness.
  8. The Winnars will be placed on the leader board and special events will be held to honor those who stay on the longest.

The goal is to both be most recognized by the other players, and to get recognized by The Conductor for the round as being the best guitarist.
